Understanding WA Public School Funding and Taking Action

The recent announcement by Superintendent Jones that school closures are off the table for 2025-2026 proves that efforts from school communities is working, and the fight is not over. For decades, Washington’s public school funding system has faced significant challenges, including inconsistent funding solutions and insufficient resources to meet the needs of students and educators. Many districts rely heavily on local levies to cover essential costs, but this approach has created disparities and left schools struggling to provide critical services such as special education and mental health support. As funding gaps grow, districts across the state are closing schools and making devastating cuts to programs and staff.

Now is the time to demand that the State meets its obligation to fully fund education.

Join us for an evening with Washington's Paramount Duty and Fund SPS to learn more about the current state of education funding and how we can work together to create sustainable solutions for all students.

    Guest Speakers:
    • Robert Cruickshank, Board Member of Washington’s Paramount Duty
    • Sarah Reyneveld, Board Member of Washington’s Paramount Duty
    • Andy Brauninger, Co-Chair of Fund SPS
