Fundraising Concert for Gazan Artists
Event description
Immerse yourself in an evening of original piano and flute music and Arabic song to raise funds for artists Aya, Alaa and their families in Gaza. Art by Aya Shaqalean, Alaa Zaqout and other Gazan artists will be available for purchase by donation at an exhibition after the concert, with all proceeds going to the artists.
Arrive at 5.15 pm for the concert (tickets $25) beginning at 5.30 pm sharp. Art exhibition (free entry) 6.30-7.30 pm.
Venue: Woodlands Studio, 22 Woodlands Road, Ashbury. There is plenty of street parking.
Featuring composer/pianist Pavle Cajic performing original music for piano, joined by composer/flutists Keyna Wilkins, Chloe Chung, Laura Chislett; Kat Grobler and Aristea Melos on piano duo; and singer Maissa Alameddine performing Arabic song. This intimate concert will amplify Alaa and Aya's stories and their art, while presenting heartfelt music to express solidarity, love and hope to those still suffering these horrific events.
Aya and Alaa’s artworks as well as artworks by other Gazan artists will be available for purchase by donation, in collaboration with Drawn in Gaza, a recently formed organization for the promotion of art by artists from and living in Gaza.
Ticket sale proceeds from the concert will be donated to Alaa and Aya's family funds. All proceeds from art sold will go directly to the respective artists.
