We will be serving up delicious food, fun entertainment, a chance to bid on great prizes, all in the name of supporting a refugee family who have been granted a chance to start a new life here on the Gold Coast.

Who is this group 'Welcome to the Gold Coast'?

Our group is made of a bunch of friends who have lived on the Gold Coast for years, and who are interested about social justice and wanted to put our passion into action. We are supporting a refugee family through the Community Refugee Integration and Settlement Program (CRISP).

What will the money raised be used for?

Our group is responsible for organising everything that our family will need as they start their life here on the Gold Coast - finding a rental, furnishing their home, providing initial income support, transport - everything! The money raised during our dinner will go towards supporting these costs.

Why refugees?

Globally, there are now more than 32.5 million refugees, with more than 2 million predicted by the UNHCR to be in need of resettlement in 2023. The number of available global resettlement opportunities is grossly inadequate to meet this need, but community sponsorship programs are helping to increase this number.
