These are a glimpse of the questions that we will be addressing during this panel on fundraising under economic uncertainty. We will explore with representatives of INCO ventures, Social Ventures Australia and Philtrust Partners their strategy when investing in a time of economic uncertainty and how start-ups are impacted by the fundraising disruption.

We've assembled a team of experts extremely knowledgable on this topic, with diverse backgrounds, being from different countries with their own social-economic realities, and where fundraising activities may not have been impacted in the exact same way by covid-19.

About Jean-Sébastien - Rabus Investment director at INCO

After a 10-year experience in financial audit (EY) and in a Transaction Services consulting firm, Jean-Sébastien joined Inco in 2019 as an Investment Director. Since that date, he is in charge of a 10+ start-up portfolio management, actively participating in their respective boards. He also carries out and/or supervises due diligences targeting new investees.

About Nathan Sowell - Impact Investing at Social Ventures Australia

After working in private equity and on project finance for infrastructure transactions at KPMG US, Nathan moved to Melbourne to carry out Business Innovation and Deal Advisory project, winning a Deal Advisory Award with KPMG Australia. Turning to impact investing, he joined Social Ventures Australia in 2017 and now is Manager Upscaler, helping social enterprises step-change their impact through business transformation support. They partner with social enterprises to help them win and deliver significant social procurement contracts.

About Davina MacPhail - Investment Manager at Phitrust Partenaires

At Phitrust Partenaires since 2016, Davina is experienced in the areas of finance and social entrepreneurship: she participated in randomized impact evaluation projects with the MIT in India, worked at ADIE in France and in a social start-up in Cambodia. She also worked in corporate banking in Europe and Asia. Within Phitrust Partenaires, she is in charge of investments, portfolio management and investor relations.

About Alexandra Alunies-Ross - VC analyst at Artesian Venture Partners

Ali is a member of the investment team at Artesian, a global venture capital. Ali looks after Artesian’s Clean Energy Seed Fund, which is an early-stage venture capital fund set up to invest in startups that support a reduction in carbon emissions or generate renewable energy. She has made over 50 investments in this fund from pre-seed to Series A+. Prior to starting at Artesian, Ali was a member of the digital team at Sky News. Ali has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Sydney and a Master of Business Law from the University of New South Wales.
