The Funky Side of Grant Green is a Hammond organ trio on a mission — to bring the irresistible groove of one of jazz's most soulful and undersung guitar heroes back to the people. Drawing deep from the well of Grant Green's funkiest recordings, the band channels the raw, street-level energy that made Green a legend on the New York scene.

The trio's repertoire centres on some of the more funky recordings that captured Green at his most exciting: Alive, Live at the Lighthouse, and Live at Mozambique. Between 1961 and 1964, Green was the most recorded musician on the Blue Note roster, appearing on 50 different sessions. The Funky Side of Grant Green honours that legacy, bringing those grooves back to the stages and listening rooms where they were always meant to live. It features Huw Rees (Hammond Organ), Davide Rinaldi (Drums), David Series (Guitar).

Free Entry, By Donation: We think it's important to offer free music and culture to all. The acts for these shows are always paid and we rely on donations on the day to maintain our free shows. Suggested donation is £10, though any amount is welcome! :)

Pianodrome Bruntsfield is at The St.Oswald's Center at 41 Montpelier Park, Bruntsfield, Edinburgh EH10 4NB, just parallel to the main street and next to the primary school.
