Make a face. Make it fun.
In this playful workshop, Thom will share some of the secrets about his creative practice and his love of faces. Learn from Thom’s unique style utilising photocopying, mirror-imaging and collaging and create your own funny face in ‘Thom’s way’.
Thursday 29 Oct, 11.00am – 1.00pm at Mona Vale Creative Space
Everyone is welcome. Adults with and without disability are invited to take part in creative workshops led by professional Studio A artists. Create alongside others, try something new and contribute to a community exhibition celebrating creativity and connection.
About the artist
Thom Roberts is a multidisciplinary artist whose vibrant practice spans painting, drawing, installation, animation and performance. Seeing the world through a kaleidoscope lens, Thom reimagines people, trains and architecture as colourful multiples, informed by his playful process of “crown reading” and distinctive use of the photocopier.
His instantly recognisable portraits often feature surreal additions—extra eyes, moustaches or “piano teeth”—that invite audiences to see the familiar anew. In 2025, Thom opened a landmark solo exhibition, The Immersive World of Thom Roberts, at the National Portrait Gallery.
Thom works with Studio A in Sydney. As a leading Australian supported studio, Studio A is driven to ensure artists with intellectual disability have a voice in contemporary Australian culture and to provide employment to their artists through sustainable creative industry careers.
