Furoshiki Workshop with Nami Osaki
Event description
Japanese Furoshiki Gift Wrapping Workshop with Nami Osaki
Some of us love gift-wrapping and some of us don't, but gift wrapping doesn't need to create waste that can be avoided!
There are sustainable ways to celebrate the holidays and this year, we are welcoming Nami Osaki back to our community to show us how to avoid the gift wrap and reuse beautiful fabric to wrap our gifts using Furoshiki.
Come and join Japanese artist Nami Osaki from Nami's Art Room for her Sustainable Furoshiki gift wrapping workshop. Furoshiki is a Japanese traditional wrapping cloth that is eco-friendly and mostly used for wrapping gifts and carrying goods.
In this workshop, Nami will share her knowledge of traditional and modern Furoshiki art techniques for wrapping different sizes and shapes of gifts and making many types of sustainable carry bags! You will also learn some easy up-cycle techniques to create your own unique Furoshiki with what you already have at home!
This workshop is a free event and will run for 1.5 hours, located at the Piara Waters Library.
Attendees will need to supply the following:
2 x empty wine bottles
2 x regular sized rectangular tissue boxes
Be quick, Nami's workshops are very popular and limited to 20 people.
We look forward to seeing you there!
