Future Council Screening

Join us for a special community screening of Future Council - an inspiring and hopeful documentary following eight young changemakers on a journey across Europe to meet world leaders, explore environmental solutions, and bring young voices into spaces of decision-making.

Created by Damon Gameau (2040, That Sugar Film), Future Council follows children who are frustrated by the lack of action on climate and environmental issues and determined to help shape a better future. Travelling in a biofuel-powered school bus, they meet with some of the world’s largest companies and most influential leaders to ask an important question:

What would happen if young people had a seat at the table?

As part of the evening, we will also share a collective message developed by Townsville young people through local workshops, highlighting their hopes, concerns, and ideas for protecting and improving our environment.

This event is part of the Townsville Future Council project, a collaboration between the North Queensland Conservation Council, St Joseph’s Catholic School Mundingburra, and Parents for Climate Townsville.

⏰ Arrive from 5:30pm for a 6:00pm start
🧺 Feel free to bring a picnic-style dinner
🍿 Small snacks and hot chocolate available for purchase
🪑 Bring a picnic blanket or camping chair for comfort
🧥 It's an outdoor event - wear warm clothes or bring blanket

Recommended for young people aged approximately 9-16, but families and community members of all ages are warmly welcome.

Come along for an evening of hope, creativity, connection, and young voices imagining the future they want to live in.

💚 This is a free community event organised by local non-profit organisations and volunteers. Donations are warmly appreciated and help support future youth environmental workshops, community events, and local engagement projects.
