Event description

Join the Nelson Tasman Climate Forum and Lighthouse Aotearoa for a special screening of Future Council, a new documentary film from director Damon Gameau (2040, That Sugar Film). We'll watch the film together and enjoy a Q&A with local young people from Lighthouse Aotearoa who have been involved in local climate action and advocacy.

The film starts at 6:20 pm. Please join us from 6pm - doors open early so you can grab a scoop of gelato. Youth tickets include one scoop in the ticket price with additional scoops for purchase.

Ticket proceeds go towards supporting Lighthouse Aotearoa in its mission to uplift environmentally conscious young people, providing them with representation to express their visions of a compassionate, sustainable future.

This event is part of the 2025 Climate Action Festival. See the full program here.

About the film

Millions of children around the world are frustrated by the dire lack of action to protect the planet and their future. Until now, their only avenue to express these concerns has been protesting on the streets.

Director Damon Gameau (2040, That Sugar Film) takes eight children on an epic adventure across Europe in a school bus powered by biofuel. Their mission is to better understand the planet’s predicament, explore solutions and, most importantly, take the conversation from the streets, into the boardrooms of some of the world’s largest polluters and most influential companies.

Their bold, hopeful journey leads to the creation of a Future Council where young changemakers work with big business to shape a better world.
