Event description

Dates: 11 August 2024,

Times: Doors 12pm, Lunch 12:30pm-3pm

Venue: The Source Restaurant, Mona

The year is 2050, and climate change has wreaked havoc on our planet, translating to a complete disruption in food production and supply. Or has it? Join us for a fantastical feast, prepared by Mona head chef Vince Trim, as we imagine how a range of possible futures might taste. We’ll hear from one scientist working in the trenches, and another steeped in possible solutions, to serve up two very different potential outcomes based on our current actions. Enjoy a deliciously imaginative meal with matched Moorilla wines, and take part in what’s sure to be a fascinating conversation with scientists and other guests, facilitated by event MC Rhys Muldoon.

Speakers: Dr Jennifer Lavers and Professor Philip Boyd.

Ticket sales from this event will support Beaker Street’s work to build community through scientific understanding. Thanks to the generous backing of Moorilla, Moo Brew, and Mona, $175 from each ticket will be a tax-deductible donation to Beaker Street, a registered charity in Lutruwita/Tasmania. Learn more about our work here. If you’d like to make an additional donation when you purchase your ticket, go for it! And thanks for your support.

A Seat at the Table
Beaker Street Festival's pay-it-forward initiative, A Seat at the Table, helps make our science and art offerings accessible to those who can't afford to purchase a ticket. Ticket buyers have the option to donate towards the cost of a stranger's ticket. You won't know who you've helped, but your donation will go directly to allowing someone else to access this great event. All donations over $2 are tax deductible.

Need a seat at the table? Just fill out this quick form to request one or two tickets to any event. Your information will never be shared or made public. If we can offer you a seat, we'll notify you by email a week or two out from the event.
