Event description

Love a challenge and problem-solving? Fancy yourself a bit of an inventor and passionate about tackling global issues people care about, like sustainability, gender equality and climate change? Are you thinking about your future and wanting a massive dose of inspo, plus meet other trailblazing women and changemakers along the way?

Suppose you’ve said a big yes, then arm yourself with curiosity, bags of creativity and a sense of fun and adventure at the Future Female Innovators Summit. Held at Melbourne Connect Telstra Creator Space.

You and your friends are invited to join the experiential day of action. Parents and carers are invited too – we promise they’ll love the event just as much!

We are also giving away $100 Amazon gift cards on the day to lucky attendees!!

What’s on the agenda?

This power-packed Summit takes place over 20 and 21 January 2022 (9am-3.30pm). It’s designed for female high schoolers to explore exciting pathways and careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM).

Here’s what to expect when you attend the Future Female Innovators Summit

Hear from inspiring speakers in STEM

Hear from a diverse panel of women in STEM, the change makers and the innovators who are blazing trails in these industries. Listen and be amazed by the stories of the important contributions already made by pioneering women. Get an exclusive preview into the future of work and exciting possibilities you can be part of.

Fun experiential learning like no other

And if that’s not all, students can also engage in fun activities like designing and making jewellery using 3D printing (rivalling the macaroni necklace made in school). There are also other learning experiences throughout the day to open our minds to the world of opportunities. Remember to follow and subscribe to Girls of Impact for regular updates on the additional activities.

Tackle real-world problems

Climate change, the pandemic, food waste and cybersecurity — just to name a few — are significant global issues. This session looks at how engineering can help solve problems, make our lives easier, more efficient, and more enjoyable. Students can pitch their ideas in a brainstorm collective solutions that change the world.

FAQ

How many parents/carers can attend?

Considering government covid guidelines and venue capacity, we ask that only one parent or carer per student register to attend. We want it to be a wonderful experience for all and for every student to have the opportunity to take part in all the activities. Thanks for your understanding.

Can I attend both days?

Both days have the same schedule, so you definitely won’t miss out. As this is a free event, tickets are limited to the day you register.

Can I swap the days after I have registered?

You can swap days provided the other day has available tickets. To do so, you need to cancel your existing ticket and re-register for the preferred day. It’s important you cancel your original ticket to open up a spot for others to join the fun.

What’s the COVID process?

  • All who partake, parent or participant, must be fully vaccinated
  • A vaccination certificate must be available
  • Must Check-In
  • Must bring a facemask

If there is an outbreak, the event will be rescheduled.

What should I wear?

Given the summit is being held in a "working" creator space with machines we do require you to wear sturdy, enclosed shoes (no thongs) and hair tied up.

What do I need to bring, do I need to bring my own lunch?

Refreshments will be supplied throughout the day, this includes morning tea and lunch (don't worry, if you have dietary requirements we will ask you for them upon registering).  Please just bring a water bottle.  Nothing else you will be required to bring, just a curious mind.

Accessibility

The space is fully accessible. The specific areas the event will use are the Ground Floor, Basement and Level 7. All are accessible via an elevator and stairs. The building and areas we are in do require access so participants will at all times be accompanied by a student guide/QinetiQ staff member.

Will this event be recorded?

No, this is purely an in-person event and will not be recorded.

Where can I get more information?

You can email us if you have any questions about the event and accessibility: hello@girlsofimpact.com.
