    Event description

Future Women x Hachette invite you to a special event this International Women’s Day.

Join Future Women's Chief Creative Officer and author Jamila Rizvi as she leads a powerful and provocative discussion on seeking justice for women with Walkley-award winning journalist Louise Milligan, writer and musician Nardi Simpson and youth activist Daisy Jeffrey

In celebration of International Women’s Day 2021, these extraordinary women will share their thoughts on gender politics, intersectional feminism and the rights of women to live free of violence.

    LOUISE MILLIGAN
Louise Milligan is an investigative reporter for ABC TV's Four Corners and the bestselling author of Cardinal, which won the Walkley Book Award and broke massive international news preceding the court case and successive and ultimately successful appeals involving one of the most senior members of the Catholic Church hierarchy. Among many awards for her work, she's also the recipient of the 2019 Press Freedom Medal. Her second book Witness is a searing examination of the power imbalance in our legal system - where exposing the truth is never guaranteed and, for victims, justice is often elusive.

    NARDI SIMPSON
Nardi Simpson is a Yuwaalaraay writer, musician, composer and educator from North West NSW freshwater plains. A founding member of Indigenous folk duo Stiff Gins, Nardi has been performing nationally and internationally for 20 years. Her debut novel, Song of the Crocodile was a 2018 winner of a black&write! writing fellowship.

    DAISY JEFFREY
Described by Mike Cannon-Brookes as a ‘next-gen leader’ and admired by Malcolm Turnbull for her endless hope and work to save our planet, Daisy was an integral member of the team that organised the Australian school climate strikes. In the process, Daisy galvanised over 300,000 people to demand climate action. She was pre-selected for study at The Australian National University where she is currently studying. Daisy is also a fierce champion for gender equality and an excellent role model for the next generation.
