Futuresteading: A Floriade Huddle by Jade Miles
Description
Inspired by the themes of seasonality, abundance and togetherness, Futuresteading Huddle is a participatory experience that invites strangers to become neighbours through storytelling, meaningful conversation and shared reflection.
Drawing on the ideas explored in Jade Miles' books Futuresteading and Huddle, participants gather around tables to explore a series of guided conversations inspired by flowers, food, community and the changing seasons. Through storytelling, practical wisdom and thoughtful prompts, guests are invited to consider what they are tending in their own lives, what deserves to flourish, what needs pruning, and what kind of future they hope to grow.
Part live storytelling event, part facilitated conversation and part community experiment, Futuresteading Huddle celebrates the simple but transformative power of gathering together. Participants leave with new connections, fresh perspectives and a renewed appreciation for the role that community, ritual and seasonality play in creating lives of meaning and resilience.
The experience reflects Floriade's Feast of Flowers theme by using the language and symbolism of gardens, flowering, cultivation and harvest as a lens through which to explore human connection and collective flourishing. It draws deeply on the traditions of long-table gatherings, local food culture and seasonal living that underpin Jade's work at Black Barn Farm.
As an educator, author, podcaster and farmer, Jade brings together storytelling, facilitation and lived experience to create an experience that is thoughtful, engaging, highly participatory and accessible to diverse audiences.
