Description

Explore the hidden world of fungi on Mt Canobolas. Join a guided foray to discover local mushrooms, mycelium networks, and the magic of the forest floor.

Event details:

Join Central Tablelands Local Land Services for the 6th Fungi Gathering on Gaanha Bula (Mt Canobolas), with a guided fungi foray exploring the rich diversity of mushrooms and mycelium on the mountain.

The walk runs from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm at the Federal Falls picnic area, where we’ll break into small groups led by experienced fungi finders.

A warm cup of soup will be provided during the midday break. If demand is high, we may open an additional afternoon session running until 2:30 pm. If you’re placed on the waiting list, don’t be discouraged - this helps us determine whether to run the extra group.

Please come prepared for changing mountain weather and wear sturdy footwear. We also encourage participants to download the iNaturalist app beforehand so you can record and share your finds throughout the day.

Additional details:

  • Please dress appropriately with sturdy shoes and check the weather before heading up the mountain. The foray goes ahead in all weather conditions.
