Please join us for the opening event of the inaugural Magic Sunset Series at The Elizabeth Hotel, a celebration of artistry, atmosphere, and the vibrant soundscape of Northern Colorado.
We begin this exciting new tradition with the soulful and captivating sounds of Gabriel Mervine, one of the finest jazz trumpeters performing today. As Westword once noted, “At a time in music where history and originality never seem to go hand in hand, Gabriel Mervine takes steps every time he picks up his trumpet to bring these two closer together.”
Mervine will be joined by Jack Dunlevie on piano and Seth Lewis on bass, forming a musically intense and expressive trio that delivers a rich, modern take on classic jazz.
Set against the warm glow of The Magic Rat, this concert marks the first of six unforgettable, musical happenings in the Magic Sunset Series—each one showcasing the incredible musicianship and creative spirit that make Northern Colorado’s music scene truly shine.
Don’t miss the start of something special. Join us as we kick off a season where every sunset comes with a soundtrack.
All tickets include one complimentary glass of wine. In order to complete your listening experience with a gourmet sampling of The Elizabeth’s banquet menu, please purchase a VIP ticket ($50). Food is only available during the concert event with the purchase of a VIP ticket.

Bio:
At a time when music often seems to pull history and innovation in opposite directions, trumpeter Gabriel Mervine stands at the crossroads—bringing tradition and originality into powerful harmony every time he plays. With deep roots in both jazz and classical music, Gabriel honors the legacy of the past while forging new ground in today’s ever-evolving soundscape. For him, no genre is off limits, and no musical stone is left unturned—he believes every style holds the potential to shape an artist's voice.
Born in Princeton, New Jersey, Gabriel began performing professionally at just thirteen. By the time he graduated high school, a future in music was already in motion. He initially studied Jazz Studies at the University of Colorado Boulder but soon transitioned to real-world experience, pursuing private mentorships with trumpet luminaries like Bobby Shew, Roger Ingram, and Greg Gisbert.
His versatility and artistry quickly gained notice. Gabriel has since shared the stage with a remarkable array of artists across genres—including Natalie Cole, Christian McBride, Terence Blanchard, Griz, Big Gigantic, Maceo Parker, Fred Wesley, Wayne Bergeron, and The Who. His orchestral and large ensemble work includes performances with the Colorado Symphony, Boulder Philharmonic, and the Motet, while his freelance career has spanned everything from Mariachi to Mahler.
Now based in Denver, Colorado, Gabriel maintains a full performance schedule and has released ten studio albums to date, with a personal goal to release one each year. His current focus is on expanding his original work and exploring new sonic landscapes with his own ensembles—all while staying true to the music that first inspired him.
