A Conversation with Gabriela Lena Frank and Laura Colgate
Online Event
Description
Fresh from being named the 2026 Pulitzer Prize winner for Music, composer Gabriela Lena Frank joins Boulanger Initiative co-founder Dr. Laura Colgate to discuss her work and life as a composer and the stories and inspirations behind her first opera El Último Sueño de Frida y Diego. Frank’s opera, set during Día de los Muertos, imagines Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera reunited in the afterlife, where they reckon with the complicated love, conflict, and artistic legacies that bound them together.
