Video Game Soundtrack for Beginners

This workshop runs on 2 separate dates, with the same content for each session.

Suited for children age 8-12, no matter the 'skill level' or 'musical experience'

Whether you're brand new to music or want to learn some music production, this course is perfect for those 8-12 who love music or want to try it out. I will guide you through the fundamentals of music production and creating soundtracks for your favourite video games.

I'm Elijah Turner, your workshop coordinator! I am a passionate musician who has been creating original music for over 4 years! I’m excited to share my love for music with you and teach you all you need to know to get creating. My goal is to help you build confidence in your musical skills by breaking down crucial music theory ideas into easily understood and applicable concepts. No matter your experience level, I’m here to support you and your musical journey.

In this workshop, I’ll help you understand how music works in games, how to build your own tracks, and how to start thinking like a game composer. You will create custom music to fit the vibe of your chosen favourite video games (e.g. Roblox, Zelda, Minecraft, Animal Crossing, Mario Kart). In addition, you will be shown the basics of general music production, allowing you to take the knowledge learnt from this class and apply it to future projects! You will be given time in the workshop to start experimenting with your musical ideas with 1-on-1 assistance from myself.

By the end, you’ll have a solid foundation to continue exploring and creating personal or game-oriented music in your unique way.
