Garden Tour November 2023
Event description
We look forward to bringing our community back together to learn more about gardening, composting and creating good food for their families!
Learn from hands-on demonstrations and question-and-answer sessions with each of our garden presenters.
The Garden Day will begin with a visit to Dunkeld Consolidated School, which has hosted a Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden since 2011. Students and teachers will guide us through their favourite parts of the garden and share ideas and wisdom about engaging all age groups in productive gardening.
Next, we will have a tour of the Griffins Hill Yoga Retreat, Dunkeld. Surrounded by the mountains of the Southern Grampians, these six acres of landscaped and edible garden, frequented by birds and animals, is a beautiful place for a retreat. Yoga retreat participants enjoy the inclusion of fresh home-grown produce from the garden.
Our final garden tour will be at Grampians Food Co, a new market garden serving the local region. During a tour of their site, they will introduce participants to their "no-till" garden bed system which focuses on feeding the soil & nurturing the biology that helps to create a sustainable source of food.
Please BYO your own drinking water for the day, and a thermos if you desire a hot drink. Lunch will be provided (please advise of any dietary requirements).
Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear.
