Garden to Kitchen Cooking Experience
Description
Discover the art of nutritious and sustainable eating in this hands-on workshop designed for anyone who is dreaming of a more self-sufficient lifestyle and wants to improve their cooking skills and routine using more local, seasonal ingredients, reduce food waste and packaging, or simply wanting to get more inspired and creative in the kitchen.
After a stroll through the vegetable garden, we will prepare a few simple dishes together, some of which we will share during lunch, and which you can then reproduce and incorporate into your daily life.
You'll get introduced to:
- Fermentation to boost your gut health and immunity.
- Foraging in the garden to make the most of the seasonal and nutritious plants and "weeds" present in the garden.
- Preservation of the abundant seasonal produces to save money over time.
This workshop is organised by Silke Middlehauve, who invites you to her home to share her passion.
Silke, a passionate cook for many years, would like to share the fact that eating healthily and seasonally is within everyone's reach and that even a small garden can provide a lot in the kitchen for those with basic processing skills.
Workshop will be held from 11am to 2pm. We'll prepare the lunch and eat it together. Please register your interest. You'll be contacted a few days ahead with more information.
This event is part of the 2025 Climate Action Festival. See the full program here.
