GARDEN DAY 'Permaculture Workshops' with Mauri & Maddie
The Details:
GARDEN DAY: Intro to FOOD FORESTS
Walk, Talk & Action with Mauri & Maddie
Tuesday, 8th September | 8:30 AM | Spring Edition
Yandina Community Gardens
Step into the garden for an interactive day of learning designed for everyone, from those taking their very first steps in Permaculture to seasoned gardeners looking for a fresh perspective.
We’ve traded the power-point slides and lengthy presentations for hands-on interaction. Using the Principles and Ethics of Permaculture as our design framework, we will learn directly from the landscape and each other.
In this Spring Edition, we will be working on the same garden bed we prepared in winter, planting and propagating perennial survival food plants.
Learn the difference between Syntropics, Food Forests and Agroforestry. Understand concepts like 'Lifecycle, Strata, Consortium, Natural Sucession and Effect of Time' in relation to plants and forests, and how you can apply them in your own garden.
The Experience:
Ice breaker: We’ll begin with a fun, dynamic intro session to get to know each other before we start our garden exploration.
Walk & Observe: Practice the art of "Reading the landscape", Observe to understand what's happening in nature in spring-time and how this impacts your role in the garden.
Talk & Learn: Forget the classroom. This is a dynamic session. Expect plenty of movement, active participation, and time to get your specific gardening questions and "doubts" answered by the facilitators and other participants.
Interact: Based on our observations, we’ll choose a site for a collective "Action"—a hands-on project to improve the garden, participation is encouraged but optional.
Morning Tea & Connection: We’ll pause mid-morning to share a cuppa, relax, and swap stories with fellow participants in the beauty of the garden.
(Abundant morning tea included)
