The Greta Valley Landcare Group and the Rural City of Wangaratta are pleased to invite you to attend their full day workshop, Gardening for Wildlife.

With a terrific line up of local speakers and great resources available on the day, participants can choose to attend the morning or afternoon sessions, or come for the full day. Lunch is supplied and we request that you please let us know if you have any special dietary requirements when booking.

The program for the day is:

9.30 to 10.30am - Sue Brunskill will discuss designing and planting gardens to attract wildlife, focusing on layering, diversity, connection and habitat needs of different species. Sue will bring along some examples of her favourite garden plants and will share her best garden design resource books.

10.30 to 11.30am - Dee Nuttall from Safe and Sound pet enclosures will explain the benefits of building enclosures for cat wellbeing and for our local environment.

11.30 to 12.30pm - Jim Blackney will highlight some of the special birds and mammals in our local area and how you can use nest boxes to provide additional habitat in the landscape. Jim will bring along boxes of all shapes and sizes and will discuss what makes a good nest box. We will also have copies of our local Nest Box publication available on the day.

12.30 to 1.30pm - LUNCH break, with outside BBQ catered for by the Moyhu Hall Committee. Giving attendees a chance to pick up resources and mingle with other like minded gardeners and farmers.

1.30 to 2.30pm - Karen Retra, our favourite local insect enthusiast, will share some of her beautiful photographs and discuss the importance of attracting pollinating insects to your garden and how to make your own bee hotel.

2.30 to 3.30pm - Ever wanted to learn to take cuttings or grow native plants from seeds for your garden? Andie Guerin from the Regent Honeyeater Project will take you through the basics of this cost saving and environmentally friendly technique. Be resourceful and grow your own!
