Horticulturalist Hannah Smith (Budding Concepts) is back in Darkan to help you bring more birds, bees and biodiversity to your home garden!

Event Description:
WA is home to some of the world's most remarkable plants and wildlife, yet many species now survive in increasingly fragmented landscapes. By planting home gardens thoughtfully and creating habitat, we can transform our own backyards into stepping stones that connect remnant vegetation, support pollinators, birds, reptiles and mammals, and strengthen the nature corridors that wildlife depends on.

This event explores how gardening with wildlife in mind not only enhances biodiversity but can also create welcoming, beautiful spaces. Through practical ideas and an appreciation of ecological connections, you'll discover that every garden—large or small—can become part of a living network that helps sustain our unique natural heritage.

We will explore:

• How all gardens are part of the greater ecosystem.
• WA’s extraordinary biodiversity and endemic species, from reptiles and birds to mammals.
• How to meet wildlife’s seasonal needs and encourage them into your garden.
• Design techniques and inclusions to create a habitat garden.
• Plant species to support natural food cycles.

• Managing threats, predators and unwanted garden visitors.

Come along and learn how every garden is part of a living landscape.
