    Event description

Has your garden been feeling the heat stress even though this summer? Are you planning a garden and want to minimise heat stress on plants?

Growing food in Melbourne can be a hot prospect, especially surrounded by the hard surfaces that make up our built environment. This workshop will demonstrate the construction of wicking pots (self-watering pots) and provide simple tips to minimise heat and sun stress through planning and maintaining your growing space, whether it be on a balcony, courtyard or something larger.

Join Yarra City Council’s Urban Agriculture team for this informative workshop designed for gardeners of all levels and abilities. This workshop will be held outside so please bring suitable clothing and a reusable drink bottle.

Please feel free to bring any surplus produce, seeds, cuttings, plants, gardening magazines etc to swap and share!

Please note that this is an event for Naarm/Melbourne gardeners only. If you live outside this area, contact your council to find out what free sustainable gardening events are available locally.

This venue is ACCESSIBLE for people using wheelchairs and other mobility aids. If you have any access or support requirements in order to participate fully, please let us know at least two weeks prior to the event and we will be pleased to assist you.

Photos will be taken at this event, but there is an option to opt out on the day.
