Description

Explore the intriguing array of plants local to the Inner Melbourne area, learn the difference between Indigenous, endemic and native species. CERES trainer and horticulturist Belinda Kennedy takes you on a journey of discovery as you tour the grounds of CERES and the Merri Creek.  Discover Indigenous rain gardens, wildlife catchments and grasslands. Learn how to incorporate Indigenous plants into your own garden through simple design methods; attract local wildlife to your area and rejoice in the natural beauty of your surrounds. The workshop will cover site specific plant selection, design tips and methods, planting and maintenance guides, ecosystems, native plant foods, and soil requirements; culminating in creating your very own indigenous garden design.

Trainer Bio:

Belinda Kennedy has been working within the horticulture industry for over 10 years, specialising in sustainable and organic garden design and management utilisiing permaculture principles. She has worked in numerous fields within the industry alongside several key landscape designers throughout Melbourne; co-designing, implementing and maintaining home landscapes on various scales; teaching training courses and workshops in Certified Horticulture and Landscape Design along with revegetation work along Melbourne's waterways and parklands. 

Belinda has completed an Advanced Diploma in Horticulture at Melbourne University, a Permaculture Design Course and is currently employed as the Site Horticulturalist and Volunteer Coordinator at CERES Environment Park and runs a sustainable garden design and maintenance company. Along with her hands on experience she is currently working on several literary productions based on permaculture and sustainable gardening along with producing a plant data base for the inner Melbourne region.

Refund policy

CERES reserves the right to cancel workshops due to insufficient numbers. If we cancel the workshop you will be entitled to a 100% refund, or you may choose to transfer to another date, subject to availability. If you decide to withdraw 7 or more days prior to the workshop date CERES will retain a 10% administration fee. If you decide to withdraw less than 7 days prior to the workshop date CERES will retain 100% of your workshop fee. Should CERES have to cancel the course due to Government changes relating to the COVD-19 response, we will let you know as soon as possible. Affected participants will be sent notification which includes details on how to re-book another date or workshop. While cancellations on our part remain refundable within the specified time period, we do hope you will consider bearing with us in these precarious and trying times, and consider the rescheduled date where possible.
