Description

A Confluence of Mastery: Gary Levinson & Magdalene Ho in Concert

Experience an extraordinary evening of musical storytelling as two generations of world-class artistry converge on one stage. This duo concert brings together Gary Levinson, the distinguished Senior Principal Associate Concertmaster of the Dallas Symphony, and Magdalene Ho, the meteoric young pianist and winner of the 2023 Clara Haskil International Piano Competition.

The Artists

  • Gary Levinson (Violin): Renowned for his "Bel Canto" playing style and adroit technique, Levinson is a seasoned virtuoso. A protégé of the legendary Dorothy DeLay and Glenn Dicterow, his career spans performances with the New York Philharmonic and collaborations with icons like Yo-Yo Ma. He performs on a magnificent 1726 Antonio Stradivari violin, a masterpiece of craftsmanship that brings a storied, golden-age resonance to every note.

  • Magdalene Ho (Piano): Described as a "recreative brilliance" by Gramophone, Ho has rapidly ascended to the pinnacle of the international scene. At just 19, she swept the Clara Haskil Competition, capturing not only the Grand Prize but also the Audience and Young Critics’ prizes. Known for her profound communicative power and modest stage presence, she represents the vanguard of the next generation of classical greats.

The Experience

This performance is more than a recital; it is a dialogue between the seasoned wisdom of a master violinist and the fresh, intuitive brilliance of a rising piano star. From the lush, operatic phrasing of Levinson’s Stradivari to the precision and "One to Watch" energy of Ho’s pianism, the program promises a journey through the heart of the chamber music repertoire.

"Her passion for music, her commitment to her craft, her recreative brilliance and the communicative power... all augur well for a successful and fulfilling career." — Jed Distler, Gramophone
