Event description

Gather & Ground: Yin Yoga

A slow movement practice that invites you to reconnect with your breath, soften into sensation, and rest in community.

Join us for a series of grounded yin poses, gentle breathwork, and moments of pause to honor your inner wisdom and support your nervous system. Together we will listen to our bodies without judgment or expectation.

Show up exactly as you are, with a mat, towel, and any supportive props you may desire to invite more ease and fluidity into your Sunday morning.

What is Yin?

“The purpose of Yin Yoga is to take us out of the systems of social convention, indoctrination and mechanistic ways of thinking, not to reinforce them by demanding conformity to rigid, limited paradigms.

Yoga does not require scientific approval or validation. Intellectualizing the practice of yoga serves to obstruct a deeper understanding of its essence.

The real power to authorize truth is contained within each and every one of us.”

-Paulie Zink

Yin Yoga is a grounding movement practice inspired by the cycles, creatures, and wisdom of the natural world. The lineage of Yin Yoga can be traced back to an unnamed incarcerated man who created a martial arts practice inspired by the free movements of monkeys he observed while imprisoned. To honor the history of this practice, we acknowledge the wisdom and labor that has been (and continues to be) extracted from those impacted by systemic oppression.

A Yin practice invites us to pause, to feel, to listen. Poses are held for several minutes, gently stimulating the joints and connective tissues to support circulation, mobility, and energetic flow. Yin Yoga blends Taoist philosophy, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Indian yogic principles with Western understanding of anatomy and trauma.

About Bryanne:

Bryanne (aka Bree, she/they) is a gentle facilitator of yoga and breathwork who invites students to listen deeply with curiosity and compassion. Drawn to practices that foster quiet reflection, Bryanne guides herself and others to play with breath, movement and stillness to ground the nervous system and fully experience the present moment.

Bryanne enjoys creating a warm space where all are welcome to show up as they are and be with self in community. Their classes are an invitation to explore your internal world without judgement and to mindfully choose what’s right for you. Inspired by nature’s cycles, Bryanne encourages students to reconnect with the innate wisdom within and honor the flow of their personal seasons. She believes we find the deepest nourishment when we integrate what we discover in practice into daily life off the yoga mat.

Bryanne’s teaching style has been shaped by over 500 hours of somatic study, including trauma-informed Yoga Teacher Training at Urban Sanctuary, a Conscious Breathwork Apprenticeship with Claudia Nanino, and specialized training in Yin Yoga and Accessible Rest practices. Rooted in softness, their approach centers personal agency and tenderly invites students to come home to their bodies in their own way, in their own time.
