Event description

Gather, Guide, Belong: Launching YACVic's Strategic Plan and the Revised Edition of the Code of Ethical Practice

After 2 years of consultation, co-design, collaboration, design and drafting, YACVic are pleased to announce the launch of the revised Code of Ethical Practice for the Victorian Youth Sector (the Code), alongside our new Strategic Plan (2025-28).

What’s changed in the Code?
We listened to young people, academics and the boarder youth sector and kept the structure of Principles and Practice Responsibilities but we’ve updated it to reflect youth work in 2025.
Such as online youth work, climate change and centring human rights and strengths-based approaches.

What to expect

We'll start the day hearing from key stakeholders involved in the development of YACVic's Strategic Plan and the revised Code, including from young people and workers about their work on the upgrade and how the Code informs our practice.

You’ll participate in a 1 hour interactive workshop taken from our newly revised Navigating the Grey: Ethical Practice with Young People training.

In-person attendees will be provided a free lunch and a printed copy of the Code poster!

In-person registration has now closed! Tickets are still available to register to join online :)

Do you have a question about the making of the Code for our panellists? Submit your question here, and if time allows our panellists will answer some of your questions :)

Our work takes place through the lands of the Aboriginal nations within Victoria and we pay our respects to their Elders past and present. Bunjil’s lore states that those who walk on this land must care for the Country and waterways as well as care for the children and young people. This always was and always will be Aboriginal land.
