    Event description

    Gawler River Planting Day

Saturday September 2nd, anytime between 10am-4pm

Come and help with the revegetation of the river corridor on Saturday 2 September. We’ll be rebuilding the native ecology with hundreds of trees, shrubs and ground covers on the land of Light Council and the heritage-listed Riverside farm.

We’ll be grateful for any time you can spare 10am-4pm. The site is only a 5 minute drive from GAWLER, with parking along Roediger Rd, Buchfelde (southern end); then follow the signs.

In collaboration with neighbours on both sides of the River, Landscapes SA, both Gawler and Light Councils and GEHA (Gawler Environment & Heritage Association) and the Gawler Environment Centre, a rich and diverse landscape is developing and attracting native fauna. The restoration project, which started in 2007 now stretches from Clifford Rd on the South side of the Gawler River/ Roediger Rd on the North of the river all the way to the Gawler Bypass to the east.

The site has both flat and sloping areas and it is near the end of Roediger Road. (Please note that there are some steep areas near the planting site which are not fenced off).

What to bring: BYO water bottle, am/pm tea & lunch, depending on when and how long you are planning to help. Hat & gardening gloves.

What to wear: Sturdy shoes, clothing appropriate for outdoor work/planting and the weather on the day.

Children: We welcome children to take part in the event but please note they will need to be supervised as the river is flowing and there are some steep areas near the planning site which are not fenced off

If you are keen to lend a hand for however long or short a time, please register your attendance.

We will email you closer to the event with any updates.

    This is a free event.
