Gay Pirate Day (Melt Festival)
Description
Ever wanted to take part in a sea shanty singalong ON A BOAT?
Come all ye gay pirates and sapphic sailors! Join The Salty Sirens in queer joy and gaiety as they lead you through tales of daring adventure, defiance and debauchery on the high seas. Lovers of rollicking shanty singalongs, Kristy "Capstan"field and Elyse "Fish"patrick have been rocking boats the country wide since 2021 with their SHE shanties and sea songs with a modern, queer twist. Don yer finest piratical glad rags and let them whisk you away with their intimate harmonies accompanied by feverish accordion and a driving beat.
Splice the mainbrace and limber up those sealegs - these aren't your grandpa's sea shanties, and this shore ain't your grandpa's boat party.
All voices are welcome! If you've never sung a shanty in your landlubbin' life, not to worry. The Salty Sirens will welcome you aboard and show you the ropes. No previous seafaring experience necessary.
🍹Our vessel boasts a full bar with a variety of drinks available to purchase. Some light snacks will be provided, but please feed yerself before embarking.
⛵Boarding and drop-off will be at the New Farm River Hub outside Brisbane Powerhouse.
Boarding at 2pm for 2.15pm departure.
We recommend arriving at around 1.30pm or earlier to allow time for parking and walking to the pickup location. Ferry stop and bus stop are just a short walk from boarding location.
After the show, why not continue the celebrations at the free Melt Opening Party at Brisbane Powerhouse.
NB: You don't have to be gay, but it helps!
