Gayla 2026
Description
The UniQ Gayla is back!
It's time for our biggest and most fabulous event of the year. This one is extra special: we're celebrating 40 years since the Homosexual Law Reform, the moment that decriminalised being who we are in Aotearoa. So grab your friends, plan your outfits, and get ready to dance the night away with your community.
This year we're going Back to the 80's, the decade that fought for and won that reform. Expect big hair, neon, and a night to remember.
We've also got Mia-Nina taking the stage for a live performance, so come ready to sing along.
A few things to know before you go:
Thinking of drinking? The bar will be open, but you'll need to be 18+ with a valid photo ID to purchase alcohol. Make sure you bring your passport, driver's licence, or Kiwi Access (18+) card.
What not to bring: Please leave all outside drinks and containers (even water bottles) at home. We'll have plenty of free water available for you at the venue all evening!
Food will be served: A range of finger food will be available throughout the night including hot chips and pizza; if you have specific allergies outside of gluten free and vegan, unfortunately we are not able to alter the venue's menu and you will have to order your own food from the bar.
Plan your travel! Make sure that you have a way of getting home before getting to the event, and keep in mind that the last buses finish before the event finishes.
No dress code: Our theme for Pride Week is Back to the 80's this year, but dressing up to the theme is not required. Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable!
