Gecko Talks - Homes for all in the SEQ Regional Plan Update?
Event description
This month we're hosting an interactive Gecko talk to discuss the impacts, changes and solutions we need to see for our Gold Coast biodiversity and habitats under the SEQ Regional Plan update.
The draft SEQ Regional Plan update 2023 is out and the clock is ticking down to be a voice for the environment.
Join us at this advocacy focussed Gecko Talk, where Jen Basham, Urban Sustainability, Queensland Conservation Council (QCC) and Sara Hicks of Gecko Environment Council will provide you with insights and key points in the plan relating to our local environment (so you don't need to read the 270 page update!)
It's critical that this updated plan protects our unique native wildlife for future generations. We recognise that Queensland needs more housing, and we need to protect the homes of all Queenslanders.
We have until the 20th September to get our submissions into the formal process, and only till the end of this year to try and convince political decision makers to protect critical habitat from further clearing and fragmentation.
The workshop will cover:
* What the plan means for the GC environment
* Making a submission
* Generating stories and engaging media
* Encouraging action with our communities
Please RSVP via this Humanitix link for our southern GC workshop, held at Currumbin RSL, Wednesday August 23, 7pm
