Gecko Talks - Visual and Acoustic Introduction to Frogs on the Gold Coast

Join Professor Jean-Marc Hero as he takes us on a visual and acoustic froggy experience delving back 350 million years to the age of the amphibians, hopping into the Anthropocene, and introducing the frogs on the Gold Coast today. The frogs are croaking: it's time to walk country, restore and care for country.  

As a scientist and educator, Professor Jean-Marc Hero focuses on biodiversity management, research, and threatened species conservation (with a focus on amphibians). He applies a broad range of analytical, technical, and ecological skills to support biodiversity conservation, restoration, and ecosystem resilience to climate change. In recent years, he has worked with Aboriginal Elders and Indigenous Scientists, integrating Indigenous Knowledge and Culture in research and education. He currently leads an international research team measuring and monitoring the restoration of native vegetation throughout the City of Gold Coast conservation estate.

The talk will commence at 7 pm, so please arrive 15 minutes early to ensure you have enough time for RSL check-in and to enjoy a meal or a drink in the Currumbin RSL creek front restaurant.
