Gecko Talks March - Protecting Tallebudgera Creek now and for the families of tomorrow
Event description
This month we are joined by Dr Sally Gregory, one MAD (Mature Aged Diver) on a quest to remove dangerous fishing hooks, line, sinkers and debris from the Tallebudgera Bridge and shoreline.Â
Sadly, hundreds of metres of fishing line and dangerous hooks are left behind by illegal bridge fishing every month. This hazardous material creates deadly traps for the fragile fish, rays, morays, sea slugs and crabs that seek shelter beneath the bridge.Â
It is her mission to protect our fragile creek and to make it safe for everyone - swimmers, marine life, aquatic birds, SUP boarders, boaties, snorkellers, and kiddies.
Join us on March 22nd at Currumbin RSL, and hear more from environmental diver Dr Sally Gregor, as she exposes the dirty secret that lies beneath the sparkling surface of the Jewel of the Gold Coast, Tallebudgera Creek.Â
If you want to see the work Sally and her team, check out their Facebook group and 'get hooked' on this cause:Â
