Gen AI Workshop in Albany
Event description
Want to learn more about Generative AI in your teaching and study? Join us for this workshop in Albany!
Curtin University Library has been exploring ways for teachers and students to enjoy the potential of Gen-AI while being aware of the risks, inherent biases and challenges it brings. In partnership with the Great Southern Universities Centre, Curtin University Library proudly presents a new workshop in Albany on Generative AI for teachers (K-12 and Higher Ed) and university students. This 2 hour workshop will cover the basics of using Gen-AI, what you need to watch out for and some of the best ways to use these tools. With a hands-on, activity-based approach, learn how to use Gen-AI to improve your productivity and save time on everyday teaching tasks and enhance your study skills! You don’t have to have used Gen-AI before – this workshop is for all levels of knowledge. Workshop includes:
- Light overview of what Gen AI is and how we recommend students and teaching staff use it safely and appropriately.
- Examples of useful productivity and study tools for teachers and students.
- Examples of useful prompts to enhance your teaching and/or study. These can potentially save time and spark creativity with planning and reports, and can create an engaging, interactive study buddy.
There will be time to have a go with colleagues and discuss and share ideas.
REQUIREMENTS:
Please bring along your laptop to join in the activities (we will share laptops in group activities so if you don’t have one, that’s okay too).
Please sign up to ChatGPT and/or Copilot (free accounts) prior to attending if you can/feel comfortable to do so.
We do not endorse any of the tools discussed, this is just an overview of what is available and what we have found to be useful.
