Presentations will include:

AI-enhanced podcast production - Kate Murray

It’s the near future; you’ve uploaded a dense academic research paper into an app and within minutes you are listening to a conversation between two AI personas discussing the paper in plain language. A quick little AI podcast created just for you. This presentation explores the evolving landscape of AI-enhanced podcast production and its implications for research communication. We’ll take a quick look at current uses of AI in transcription and audio editing then scan the possibilities transforming research dissemination and question what they mean for research integrity in a world awash in misinformation.

AI-enhanced visual media workflow - Dave Withers and Ben Loveridge

This presentation will examine the use of Generative AI in media production within the University of Melbourne's Video and Media team (VM). It discusses how AI tools are being integrated into daily workflows for various media tasks, illustrating this integration through a case study that demonstrates a practical application of AI in solving a production challenge. Building on these examples, the presentation explores the team's approach to AI use, including potential benefits, concerns, and risks. By addressing these aspects, it offers a practitioner perspective on current and future role of AI in educational media production.
