Price $39 – $750 AUD + GST Get tickets

Event description

How DO you build LGBTQIA+ inclusion in the workplace, in your classroom, or in your community? It can be hard to know where to start if you're not confident in your knowledge – but the renowned Minus18 Education Team is here to help.

In honour of IDAHOBIT – the International Day Against LGBTQIA+ Discrimination – we're diving into all the most frequently asked questions we receive from workplaces, organisations, and schools.

What to Expect:

Expect to dive into the basics of LGBTQIA+ definitions and identities, inclusive language, pronouns, and the difference between sexuality and gender. We know that inclusive language is an especially requested piece of content – so that's exactly what we'll be covering.

  • An overview of LGBTQIA+ terms and identities.
  • The difference between sex, gender and sexuality.
  • A guide to LGBTQIA+ Inclusive Language (with a focus on the workplace)
  • Recommendations and practical tools to support LGBTQIA+ people interpersonally and professionally.
  • Opportunity to ask questions throughout via Q&A feature

Note: this event is 3.30pm AEDT (we're in Victoria!)

What is IDAHOBIT?

And what's IDAHOBIT? Every May 17, it's a chance for the whole community – workplaces, schools, individuals – to go rainbow and stand out against discrimination. It's a day full of morning teas, school assemblies, rainbow digital meetings, classroom discussions, fundraisers, and education.

The stakes have never been higher to create LGBTQIA+ inclusion at work and school. Discrimination and bigotry is on the rise, and building a more inclusive Australia is up to all of us. We can all make a difference, even by something as small as putting our pronouns in our email signature, or hosting a rainbow morning tea on May 17.

Whether you're an individual, workplace, school or community organisation, this in-depth training will equip you with the knowledge you need on IDAHOBIT, and to champion inclusivity year-round.

    Who is this for?

For adults who'd like to learn about IDAHOBIT, the basics of gender and sexuality, AND the basics of being an ally.

Whether you're applying your knowledge to a workplace, school, retail or service setting - we'll teach you all about the LGBTQIA+ basics in how you can level up your allyship towards colleagues, clients, friends or family.

    Is there a cost?

This is no taster session. This is our full-blown, renowned LGBTQIA+ inclusion professional training.

This training is usually valued to organisations from $1,190 per session. To celebrate IDAHOBIT, we are reducing the cost way down for individuals to $39-59 per person (excl GST).

As well as receiving a live online training session, all proceeds from the ticket sales will go back to enabling our work continuing to champion and support LGBTQIA+ youth.

Whether you're looking to be a more inclusive colleague, teacher, service provider, youth worker, friend or family member - reserve your spot in this professional development seminar.
