    Event description

Generative AI has been grabbing the headlines. But will it soon be writing them, along with the stories below the headlines?

The UTS Centre for Media Transition has been researching how newsrooms in Australia are preparing for the technology and found that all editors are concerned about the impact generative AI will have on the integrity of their product, and they are eager to create ways to protect it from mis- and dis-information, bias, deep fakes and propaganda. During this big election year globally, we question how generative AI will further impact public trust in journalism.

We are bringing together some of the editors interviewed for our survey of attitudes and a copyright specialist on Thursday 14 March at 12.45pm.

Join us at UTS to hear from:

    • Prof Isabella Alexander, Scholar, UTS Faculty of Law
    • Barclay Crawford, Executive Editor, DailyMail.Com, USA
    • Justin Stevens, Director of News, Analysis and Investigations, ABC
    • Melanie Withnall, Head of News and Information, Southern Cross Austereo

We look forward to seeing you then.
