Geocaching 101 – Dwellingup Treasure Hunt

Ready for an outdoor adventure?

Grab your phone, follow the clues and explore Dwellingup as you search for hidden geocaches around town.

Along the way, you will learn how geocaching works, discover new places and record the clue at each location.

Complete the treasure hunt, return your map to the Visitor Centre and collect a prize!

How it works

1. Meet at the Dwellingup Trails and Visitor Centre at 10.30am.

2. Check in and learn how to use the Geocaching App.

3. Follow the suggested route to find caches.

4. Find the clue at each location and record it on your map.

5. Return your completed map to the Visitor Centre.

6. Collect your prize from the Visitor Center

Who is it for?

Suitable for ages 6+.

You can take part individually, with family or friends, or as part of a group.

Children under 18 must be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult at all times.

This is a self-guided activity. The route includes road crossings, bushland and some uneven surfaces. Shire staff will not provide supervision along the route.

Each group will need access to at least one smartphone or smart device with:

• the Geocaching App downloaded

• GPS/location services turned on.

Instructions for downloading and setting up the app will be emailed to the main contact before the event.

What to bring

Please bring:

• a fully charged smartphone or device

• water

• comfortable enclosed walking shoes

• a hat and sun-safe clothing

• sunscreen

• insect repellent if needed

• a portable phone charger if you have one.

Charging stations are also available at the Dwellingup Trails and Visitor Centre if needed.

Before you come

This is an outdoor walking activity. The route may include road crossings, sealed paths, grass, dirt tracks, bushland and uneven surfaces.

Please wear suitable footwear and consider whether the walking distance and conditions are suitable for you and your group.

Toilets are available at the Dwellingup Trails and Visitor Centre.
