About the Author

Yasmin Safdie was born in Israel and grew up in Argentina and Brazil before arriving to the United States at the age of 15. She has dedicated her career as a psychotherapist to working with populations who have been historically marginalized and underserved. In both her professional life and her poetry, she is guided by a personal commitment to social justice, cultural humility, the belief in dignity and worth of every human life.

In The Geology of Being, Yasmin Safdie processes, questions, and challenges her inner and outer experiences of navigating the world. Zooming into inter and intrapersonal dynamics, this debut collection of poetry also zooms out to macrosocio-political-cultural structures, exploring how they impact humanity and the experience of being human.
