Sat, 15 Feb, 5:30pm - 10pm AEDT

Event description

Singer-songwriter and sonic shapeshifter Georgia Fields presents her String Theory National Tour 2025.

In an exciting collision of worlds, Georgia is collaborating with a different string quartet in each city, over 9 shows.

For this special show at Mollongghip Hall, she'll be joined by her long-time collaborators the Andromeda Quartet (led by celebrated chamber violinist Natasha Conrau). This is the same quartet who performed on Georgia's recent album Hiraeth, recorded by Mollongghip's own Josh Barber.

Together they will perform 'strings' of Georgia's own songs, plus a couple of strikingly reimagined covers. Georgia integrates live looping with extended techniques from the string players, blurring the lines between modern chamber music and playful art-pop.

5:30pm ... Food truck / Doors open
7:00pm – 7:30pm ... First set of music (Georgia solo)
8:00pm - 9:00pm... Second set of music (with string quartet)
9:00pm - onwards... Bar open

This is a family-friendly event, with kids under-16 free. Food truck outside; drinks available at the bar inside.

About Georgia Fields...

Georgia Fields is a critically-acclaimed independent singer-songwriter. She studied the cello as a teenager, and she brings this appreciation for the instrument to her freelance work as a string arranger/composer. Traversing the realms of indie-folk and art-pop across 3 albums and 2 EPs, Georgia has established herself as one of Melbourne's most imaginative sonic storytellers. Her latest album Hiraeth was awarded 4-stars by The Australian newspaper. Performance highlights include Brisbane Powerhouse, Mullum Music Festival NSW, and Melbourne Fashion Week, plus support spots for Katie Noonan, Clare Bowditch, Didirri, Pierce Brothers, Mia Dyson, Ella Hooper, and Frente.

About the Andromeda Quartet...

As individuals they have performed in the country’s top orchestras, including the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Victoria, Melbourne Ring Orchestra and Australian Art Orchestra.
