Georgian Wine Tasting with Shilda Winery
Event description
Archaeologists have recently discovered traces of the Qvevri, ancient clay vessels used for winemaking, near the capital of Georgia, Tbilisi, dating back over 8000 years, therefore evidence suggests that Georgia is the oldest winemaking country in the world!
Shilda Winery is located in the Alazani River Valley at the foot of the Caucasus mountains, the heartland of Georgian wine producing region, Kakheti. Its unique soil composition and microclimate provides perfect conditions for vine cultivation, especially for indigenous grape varieties like Saperavi, Kisi and Rkatsiteli.
Join us for an evening of all things Georgian with winery representative Sophie Kobaidze to explore Georgia’s rich history, ancient winemaking traditions, unique native grape varieties, and the traditional processes behind Shilda Winery's exceptional wines.
We will be tasting 5 wines with Sophie:
Kirke Goddess Blend 2022 white
Rustavelli Kisi Qvevri 2022 amber
