Gerl, Gurl, Gorl!

GIRL is brand new here. She was born from a butt. She’s part girl, part something else, and she is trying to understand how it all works. GIRL wants to walk and tries to talk. She falls in love with a self-ordering food kiosk. She needs your help. No really. Explain it to her like she's GIRL.

Inspired by play dates with her baby cousin, mommy issues, and recovery from bad boyfriend psychosis, GERL GURL GORL! is a solo show about love, autonomy, and well, McDonald's. Written and performed by Andie Flores, directed by Sam Mayer, with movement direction by Kelsey Oliver, and featuring the voice talents of Sawyer Stoltz. 

ANDIE FLORES (b. 1990) (she/her) is a performance artist in Austin, Texas, who uses embarrassment as a medium for investigating hyper, almost obsessive, visibility in a racialized body across barriers of border, history, and capital. Her practice works to unsettle categorical, site-specific expectations of genres of performance (femininity, Latinidad, drag, citizenry) and aims to recontextualize the mechanisms required to do the work of the absurd. Flores creates experimental live performances that pair identity and comedic culture moments with over-exaggerated, often grotesque shapes and sounds. 

Her work has been shown at Warehouse9 (Denmark), Roskilde Festival, Fusebox Festival, DORF, The Dallas Contemporary, Austin Sketch Fest, Bushwig (NYC), Presa House Gallery (San Antonio), The Museum of Human Achievement, Ivester Contemporary, MASS Gallery, Future Front Film Fest, Contrast Film Festival, Cagematch Project, and The Dallas Latino Cultural Center.  She debuted her first solo stage show, To Get There… You Must Undergo… A Radical Transformation at OUTsider Festival in February 2023 and performed a sold out run at Crashbox in November 2023. Her hybrid dissertation/stage show, What Have I Done?!?!?!: Failure, Art, and Accountability at the End Beginning End Beginning End of the World, sold out at Fusebox Festival in April 2026. She is a frequent collaborator with playwright Sam Mayer.

She is a recipient of the Frick Arts Foundation award, voted Best Performance Artist in Concept Animals’ Community Favorites poll of December 2023, and named one of Remezcla's '40 Emerging Texas-Based Artists to Know' (2020). Flores holds a PhD from the University of Texas at Austin.
