    Event description

For years Glenthorne Farm in Adelaide's southern suburbs hung under a cloud of impending urban development. Plans had been drawn up to slice it into housing blocks and build white goods stores down its eastern boundary which fronts South Road. It's demise seemed inevitable. But today Glenthorne is protected under legislation as a thriving and unique urban national park, where over 200,000 trees have been planted since 2020, and where heritage and cultural stories are being brought to life.

Join David Speirs MP, the former Environment Minister, who worked alongside the community to save Glenthorne from the bulldozers for a tour and a picnic at Glenthorne National Park. David will tell Glenthorne's amazing story and talk about what the future could hold.

Meet by the BBQ area near the new adventure playground. Access this via the main entrance off Majors Road and follow the driveway past the Rangers Station down to the lower parking area where there is ample parking.
