Flash and speed lights have completely changed photography and the look of photographs in the past few years. With increased technology, the quality, efficiency and speed of modern speed lights and triggers have provided creative photographers with a whole new range of possibilities. We are no longer limited to the sun, constant lights or big studio lights, and are now free to whip out a speed light and rise to a new level of creative potential, and I’ll show you how.

In this 2 hour session we’ll explore the essential flash photography equipment, from flash units to triggers and modifiers necessary to achieve your desired lighting effects.

Ben will share how to set up your shot and create the desired lighting scenario, ensuring your subjects are well-illuminated and the scene is correctly exposed. You’ll learn the art of bouncing flash, a technique that softens and diffuses light, providing a more natural and appealing look to your subjects. Ben will cover a series of off-camera flash photo breakdowns of some of his most awarded photos showing you how they were created, including the techniques and setups for effectively using off-camera flash, like positioning, power settings, and synchronisation.

Ben will also share his 8 Steps to Great Off-Camera Flash Photos ensuring your subjects are well-lit and the scene is aesthetically pleasing. Finally ben will share some Creative Lighting Techniques like light painting using everyday items that will take your photography to the next level.
