Getting Started with Watercolor: Mushroom Studies
Description
Getting Started with Watercolor: Mushroom Studies
Explore the foundations. Paint something your own.
Curious about watercolor but not sure where to begin? Getting Started with Watercolor is a two-hour workshop that introduces the foundations of watercolor through simple exercises, playful experimentation, and a guided painting project.
Part One: Explore the Foundations
We'll begin by getting familiar with our materials and discovering how water, pigment, and paper work together. Through hands-on exercises, you'll practice essential techniques including wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, brush control, washes, and color mixing.
This first half is all about experimenting, making observations, and discovering what watercolor can do.
Part Two: Put It Into Practice
Next, we'll take those techniques into a guided painting project inspired by a different theme each month.
November's project: Mushroom Studies 🍄
Explore organic shapes, playful colors, and layered details as we paint an assortment of whimsical mushrooms. We'll work through the painting process together, with opportunities to make your own choices about color, composition, and details.
Rather than reproducing an exact example, you'll use what you've learned to create a painting that reflects your own creative decisions.
