Getting the balance right: Tree Preservation & Bushfire Prevention - Blackwood event
Event description
Like us, you're probably keen to ensure that the balance is right,
between trees and bushfire prevention. Too much clearance can
in fact make things worse.
The
State Planning Commission is currently consulting on a Code Amendment
to the Bushfire Hazards Overlay and it's important that they hear
from as many people as possible.
Conservation
SA has played a significant role in building community awareness on
the need for better tree protections.
Part of the significant body of work produced over the last 4 years
has been a landmark report, supported by the CFS and the Native
Vegetation Council, on the intersection of tree protections , native
vegetation and bushfire clearances. You can access the report
here.
This
session, run by Conservation SA and presented by Tom Morrison and
Joanna Wells who co-authored the report, will inform you about the
Code Amendment, and take you through the submission writing
process.
The
session is set up as a BYO device session. You'll be provided
with a template to use (adapt) and by the end of the session, your
contribution to the process will be ready to email in. Come
along, make your contribution to the democratic process and build
community.
