Event description

It's a Friday night. You've got butterflies in your stomach, we do too. The lighting is moody, the setting is intimate, and we're ready to vulnerable like we've never been vulnerable before.

Dress in your first date best and meet us at The Junk Bar for a night of electricity and lengthy eye contact with a lineup of stellar Meanjin acts.

Doors at 7pm
DARLING. 7:30
Moonboot 8:15
Ghost Mutt 9:15

GHOST MUTT
Ghost Mutt spew moody pop rock songs about love, life and existential dread into the universe. With lyrics in both English and Spanish, Ghost Mutt takes sonic inspiration from the likes of Radiohead, Pixies, Foo Fighters and The Dandy Warhols - with layered harmonies and spacey guitars interrupted by crunchy distortion and pop hooks.

MOONBOOT
MOONBOOT, a rock band recently born in Brisbane, a growing lovechild of Rachel’s guitar and Emily’s poetry. With groovy Gareth on bass and daoist Dave on drums, the band is a blend of 90s slacker, alt-country and anti-pop. Well who’s to say? Maybe it’s Moon Rock. Come see the baby for yourself. Influences include Neil Young, The Simpsons, suffering and the breeze.

DARLING.
DARLING. is the bedroom project of Caitlin Finn (ex-Dorothy and Dog) and Joel Glazebrook (Edith Thomas Furey), combining the bleak atmospherics and shoegaze sensibilities of their previous projects. Incorporating a range of other influences - including post-punk, dreampop and new wave - into an experimental, moody fugue, DARLING. have spent this last plague-year slowly refining their sound, which reflects their own despair and joy.
