Event description

On behalf of the Permanent Mission of Australia to the United Nations, please join us in an evening of storytelling, traditional knowledge, and artistic exploration with visiting Torres Strait artists' Lavinia Ketchell and Joshua Thaiday. 

This special event is held in conjunction with the Ghost Nets to Knowledge: Protecting the Ocean through First Nations’ Storytelling exhibition at the United Nations. The panel will explore the intersection of climate action, traditional knowledge, and creative advocacy, highlighting how Indigenous communities are leading efforts to combat marine pollution and protect ocean ecosystems.

Join us for an engaging discussion with Lavinia and Joshua as they share their artistic journey, the environmental impact of ghost nets, and the powerful role of storytelling in global conservation efforts.
