Many know just how profound it is to birth a medicine drum, and having it gifted brings another incredible depth; whether it’s for yourself, or a loved one. So there are quite a few doing this for the upcoming workshop. However, not everyone can make that date, so i’ve been asked to provide a gift voucher for either a future workshop with me or to have one custom-made.

Creating your own medicine drum is a truly in-depth experience that can travel with you as a sacred object that beats through your entire life. For those who have not played a medicine drum, with an introduction to breathing / beating meditation, and in making it yourself, you will find it will play itself.

What size and hide type or animal medicine options are there?
There are options to make a 14”, 18” or 22"drum from either goat, kangaroo, buffalo or deer hide. There is the possibility of the new vegan drum with a scoby/ hemp composite hide as a separate workshop coming up at some stage in the future, but that's definitely a watch this space and requires further development

I either make the hoops myself with sustainably harvested hoop pine or get them specifically made by a traditional manufacturer using a single piece of sustainable freshly cut timber and finish them myself. Both types of hoops provide a lightweight strong drum and you get to brand them with sacred geometry.

I acknowledge the Native American and other traditional creators of this style of drum and the indigenous people of this land. I have been through big journey in being able to offer drum-making to others, which will assist in guiding fellow makers on a beautiful and sacred journey.

Free workshop*
The workshop is free to suit Confest ethics. However, there is a cost for the Medicine drum making kit which is required to do the workshop. If you want to bring your own materials and they are prepared close enough to the way I offer them, you're welcome to do so and join in on a workshop for free. As a note, I won't be selling part kits!
