Delivery rider employment is a popular form of work for international students, it can be secured quickly and easily once arriving in Australia. Yet it can also be dangerous and complicated.  

Join Rachel Carlisle, Senior Road Policy Safety Officer from the Department of Transport and Desma Smith, Associate Director, International Student Advisory & Support from Swinburne University for insights about gig work, rider delivery services and e-bikes. 

This session will highlight: 

• Insights from research undertaken by Department of Transport 

• New safety awareness campaign to educate riders 

• Information about work rights 

• Algorithm driven work and rider safety 

• Concerns about legal and illegal e-bike sales and hire 

• Update on the International Students Delivery Driver/Rider Training Program led by Swinburne University.  The program is publicly available.
